Mindful Breathing

To embed self-regulation into our daily practice at Ambler, after lunch time, children will all engage in mindful breathing. They let their teacher know what zone they feel in; do their guided breathing (using resources such as GoNoodle and Smiling Mind); then let their teacher know what zone they then feel in.

“After lunch, we breathe and practise mindfulness because at lunchtime, we run around a lot and get quite tired and sometimes there can be arguments. Breathing helps us calm down and catch our breath. The Zones of Regulation help me to understand my emotions and how to get back to Green. I also like to go to the Calm Corner to close my eyes and breathe when I’m in the Blue or Red Zone. This helps me significantly to get back to being focussed in the lesson.” Mani – 6G

Mindful Breathing is a useful tool for people of any age and can be done at school, home or out and about. Below are the links we use which can also be used at home.
